The business is looking for a dedicated professional to join the business as Head of Financial Planning & Analysis. The role will be key in the evolution of Commercial Finance to a best-in-class function within the business.
Reporting to the Director of Commercial Finance, this new role is a critical leadership position within Commercial Finance & the wider business, which will provide outstanding business partnering to support commercial decision-making across the company, driving real value and efficiencies. The role-holder will transform the function to be commercially-focussed with an emphasis on strong business partnering & strategic decision making.
The role holder will play a key role in the delivery of Fortnum’s profitable growth strategy, both domestically and internationally, through the analysis of new and existing business initiatives, the assessment of any risks and opportunities and the identification of ways in which to implement solutions to drive business performance and efficiencies.
Responsibilities include:
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Ownership of annual budgeting, forecasting and planning process over the course of the financial year, providing in-depth analysis of key channels and business drivers.
- Deliver clear, actionable management information, including the preparation of weekly reports and monthly Board packs, to inform performance improvement.
- Collaborate closely with the Director of Commercial Finance and Director of Strategy to execute the five-year planning process.
- Ownership of P&L by Channel reporting, leveraging insights & collaborating with the business to drive profitability
Buying & Merchandise Support
- Act as the lead business partner to the Buying & Merchandising (B&M) function and the Chief Commercial Officer.
- Own and drive the weekly and monthly margin reporting process, providing robust analysis and partnering with B&M to identify and implement margin improvement initiatives.
- Lead the automation and systemisation of margin reporting, identifying blockers and collaborating with stakeholders to implement a solution.
- Partner with B&M to optimise inventory management and improve working capital
- Streamline the New Product Development process to ensure agility and efficiency, introducing post-investment reviews to track performance.
Business Partnering & Operational Support
- Business Partner & own the P&L for Head Office, working with teams to drive efficiencies & profitability
- Own the Payroll plan for Head Office & B&M functions
- Provide accurate commercial and financial analysis in order to provide insights that support the business growth and strategic plans
Key skills and experience:
- Established career in commercial finance
- ACCA or CIMA qualified
- Experience (ideally) of omnichannel and multi-product retailing, twinned with a love of food, hospitality and customer service
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to present financial insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Ability to work across a varied group of stakeholders, galvanise support for key strategic initiatives & put business-partnering front & centre
- Strategic and creative thinker, with strong leadership and people skills, evidenced by strong IQ and EQ.
