Buying Assistant - Fresh & Bakery
Job description
Role Purpose:
Reporting to one of the Fresh Buyers, this role is key to ensuring the Fresh & Bakery Buying Team runs smoothly.
The role is responsible for managing and maintaining product set up and pricing; pulling sales data, managing supplier relationships and in store tastings, coordinating with marketing and online for new product launches, arranging samples and transit tests for photoshoots and NPD, raising purchase requisitions, sorting out invoice queries and managing the new product development tracker and critical path.

Fresh & Bakery Buyers, Marketing, Merchandising, Online, Retail, Hospitality, VM, Warehouse, Suppliers
Key Accountabilities:
* Manage and maintain product set up of all products we sell ensuring the essential information is stored in the system and that prices are maintained regularly.
* Manage the AYR and seasonal range plans and the web range plan (WRP) for the department ensuring all products are captured allowing full visibility of the correct ranges for each location.
* Manage in store sampling with suppliers to ensure we have a bustling foodhall throughout the year.
* Coordinate with Online, Marketing and merchandising on new product launches and seasonal changes in our range.
* Manage and coordinate supplier samples and team tastings with hospitality to review potential new products.
* Managing invoices for the department by liaising with suppliers to query costs.
* Manage the new product development process and the critical path workbook, ensuring key stakeholders stick to critical paths.
* Collating weekly trade reports to update the business with the department’s weekly performance.

We expect the successful candidate to have the following skills and experience:
* Keen to learn and conscientious
* Demonstrate an ability to communicate and work well as part of a team
* Tenacious, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong organisational skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
* Educated to degree level
* Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint (if your application is successful you may be called for an Excel skills test).
* Keen interest in food and must be up to date on the latest food trends
* Competent numerical skills (calculate margins, percentages profit etc)
* Retail experience
