Assistant Merchandiser - Fashion - 6 Months FTC

Our Head Office department is in the heart of Piccadilly and occupies the 5th & 6th floor of our beautiful flagship store. This central London location offers so much to explore including restaurants, bars, cultural sites, shopping and more, and only a short walk from the Green Park Tube Station and plenty of bus stops.

We are looking for a commercially minded Assistant Merchandiser to support the Gifting & Jewellery category. This role plays a key part in driving stock availability, supporting sales growth and ensuring smooth day-to-day trading through accurate forecasting, order management and strong cross-functional relationships.

 

Key interfaces:

B&M teams, Online trading team, Marketing, Logistics, Finance, IT, 3PL colleagues.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Support the development of sales forecasts using historical data, current trading performance and seasonal trends
  • Monitor stock availability to ensure optimal balance between sales opportunity and stock risk
  • Maintain a clear understanding of Grade A and B lines, including stock levels, orders, pricing, promotions and risks
  • Track and report against key merchandising KPIs such as availability, stock holding and weeks’ cover
  • Place and manage all purchase orders for the Gifting & Jewellery department
  • Proactively chase and expedite orders to achieve On Time In Full (OTIF) delivery targets
  • Communicate delivery delays or failures clearly, highlighting impacts and proposed actions
  • Raise Supplier Compliance Charges where appropriate and maintain supporting reporting
  • Build strong working relationships with suppliers, warehouse, DC, retail and online teams
  • Own the maintenance of departmental line cards, ensuring product, pricing, cost and supplier information is accurate and up to date

We expect the  successful candidate to have the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience in a merchandising, retail or supply chain role
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with data
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across tea
  • High levels of organisation, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Resilience and a proactive approach in a fast-paced trading environment
  • A digital mindset and enthusiasm for improving processes and systems
  • Integrity, professionalism and the confidence to challenge constructively when required
